Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag!

Hello everyone! I cannot believe we’re in June already. As I grow older I realize how quickly time passes by. The year has not been as good as I thought it would be, even chaotic at times but I have had an amazing reading year!

Reading challenge:

This year I took VERY important exams in April so my reading year has been a little slow but I’m ready to catch up in the next half of the year. That makes me behind schedule but I’m still quite hopeful and optimistic!

1. BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2019

23766634

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas! I loved how everyone finally got to see how incredible Rhysand is (and “incredible” doesn’t cover it the least). I loved the Night’s Court dynamic, I loved reading about the other Courts, the bargains, the Great Battle. I loved how we saw Nesta and Elain deal with their traumatic experience, I loved discovering more about Mor’s story, I loved reading about Jurian, Myriam and Drakon. I loved finding more about Amren, hell I even loved seeing how Tamlin kind of became decent. I loved it all.

2. BEST SEQUEL OF 2019 SO FAR?:

I absolutely LOVED The Wicked King. I did not think Holly Black could top The Cruel Prince; but she did! And that cliffhanger…

3. NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET, BUT WANT TO?:

The Unhoneymooners is all over bookstagram and I have been dying to get my hands on it especially since the cover is SO gorgeous!! I have read Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren and I really enjoyed it and the plot for this one seems promising enough.

4. MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE OF THE SECOND HALF OF 2019?:

Unknown2

As I said previously, The Wicked King ends on a cliffhanger and the release date for The Queen of Nothing has been moved up to November so I CAN’T WAIT!!!

5. BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT?:

16034235

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. Okay, this is quite controversial. I still gave this book a good rating but it was not what I hoped for or imagined. It’s also partially my fault for reading the series so many years after it was published and it is well beloved so I thought I’d fall in love too. Apparently, it only gets better and I absolutely adore ACOTAR enough to give Sarah J. Maas a chance. I know she won’t disappoint in the next books.

6. BIGGEST SURPRISE?:

I know it would be funny and light but I didn’t think My Lady Jane would be this good?! Honestly, it’s well-written, it’s entertaining, it’s cute, it has EVERYTHING. And the feels. I was in a terrible mood when I read it and it was so funny that it relaxed me and even made me smile!

7.  FAVORITE NEW AUTHOR (DEBUT OR NEW TO YOU) ?:

It’s her third time appearing in this post so I guess you’re starting to grasp my love for her! I love Holly Black and I might give her other books a try!

8. NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH?:

Well I love Jude Duarte (The Cruel Prince). She’s everything I love in a female character. I love how she stands up for herself, lives with her fears and doesn’t shy away from responsibilities. She is a fighter. Also I started reading the Lux series again and I forgot how much I loved Daemon Black, so here it is.

10. BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY?:

Das Muschelessen by Birgit Vanderbeke. We read an extract in German class and I loved it so I decided to read the entire book. It deals with the dynamic of a family and throughout the book, the reader finds out the father is abusive, both mentally and physically. A few passages pulled at my heartstrings.

11. BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY?:

Well, I guess My Lady Jane made me very happy for the reasons stated above.

12. FAVORITE BOOK TO MOVIE ADAPTATION YOU’VE SEEN THIS YEAR?:

51u8I+mRd3L

I haven’t read the book but I saw Crazy Rich Asians!!! It was so so so so good! The characters were funny, I loved that it was an all-Asian cast, honestly, it was sooo refreshing and I loved how they dealt with the struggle of being two different nationalities such as Korean-American and all that dynamic. Also WEALTH. Wow. The cinematography was breathtaking? I loved it.

14. MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU BOUGHT OR RECEIVED SO FAR THIS YEAR?:

26032887

I’m mentioned it so many times already but it’s one of those books you can most definitely judge by its cover haha.
