First Book Club experience!

Hello, everyone, this is a little different post for me but I wanted to share my experience about going to a book club for the first time!

I got a hold of the event on Instagram through an account I followed (@laurenna.letarnec; go see her amazing account!)  and luckily I saw that the book club was held in the place I lived!

So I saw on the Facebook page that there were going to be seven members. I was reassured by the fact that it wouldn’t be a huge gathering because I suffer from social anxiety. So indeed we were eight, myself included, and I arrived right on time (thank god). Everyone was already seated in the corner of the cafe and there was only one guy for seven girls. One of the organizers of the book club (they were two) worked at the cafe and took our orders. It was very quiet and I think everyone was a little shy and intimidated. We were told to bring our favourite book and explain why it was our favourite. I brought Just One Day by Gayle Forman (as you know haha). We did a roundtable and everyone introduced themselves and we talked about our books, our favourite genres…Then we talked about what we would like to read together, what some of us were into, what some were not…and it was a really fun and great experience! The first book that we decided to read together was Becoming by Michelle Obama but unfortunately, as I’m on summer holiday I went back to my hometown and won’t be able to make it to the next meeting! I will go back in September and continue participating!

Hope you enjoyed reading about my experience! Have you joined a book club? Let me know in the comments!
