Hello lovelies!
Daisy Jones and the Six is one of my all-time favorite books. It crushed me. It’s the only book I reread this year, so when I heard there was a readathon inspired by the book, I couldn’t miss the opportunity. I also thought that it would help me in my challenge to read 10 days in three weeks!
I stumbled upon Brightness Katy Reads‘ video which explains what the readathon consists of:
I decided to follow the “Vocals Prompt:

I love all the characters to death and Daisy Jones is one of my favorite all-time female characters. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to “be” like her so I decided to go for the “Vocals” prompt.
(I’m also very jealous of people who can sing, as it is a skill I sadly do not have.)

Prompt: Read a book by an own voice author.
I recently purchased this book, because being an own voice reviewer myself, I felt that it would only do me good. I obviously know the challenges of being a Black Frenchwoman but I am very curious to see which in ways it is similar to the British experience. This book follows a cast of twelve Black women on their personal journeys through Britain and the last hundred years. It also doesn’t hurt that the book is the joint Winner of the Booker Prize 2019.

Prompt: Read a book written in first person
I decided to purchase this audiobook for Pride, but with my applications, exams and apartment hunting, June and July have been hectic. I bought it because it involves royals, the enemies-to-lovers trope AND a sapphic relationship – What else do I need?! The beginning was a little slow but I’m really enjoying it now. I’ll keep you updated on everything!

Prompt: Read a book that’s written in verse.
I never, and I mean never read books written in verse. I just have a hard time with them. I used to think verse only belonged in poetry in a classical sense. BOY WAS I WRONG. I started this readathon with this book and it was a good surprise. I didn’t think I would have enjoyed this book as much as I did. I highly recommend it. 4 loving stars!
Have you read any of these books? Are you participating in a fun readathon this month? Let me know in the comments! Karla xx
