I have received my first bookish box from Illumicrate and I thought I would do an unboxing! 🥰 The theme for this month is “Cursed” and when the fandoms where announced, I was scared I wouldn’t like the items because I haven’t read the books from those fandoms but I’m pleasantly surprised!
So this is what the box looks like when you receive it with the spoiler booklet:
So the first item is so useful to me because I keep misplacing my bookmarks and they’re sparsely stacked on my bookshelves or my desk so when I found out there was a bookmark tin inspired by Ninth House in the box I was thrilled!
Then there’s my favourite item from the box which is a 2022 Calendar with the “starcrossed lovers” theme, featuring some characters art. I LOVE THIS!!
The mug this month is inspired by The Winteernight Trilogy which a lot of people love and the art makes me want to read it even more!
The slightly disappointing item are those stickers, but i haven’t read the book and I’m going to use them for my reading journal so it’s okay.
Then there’s a Firebird pin banner inspired by Girl, Serpent, Thorn and a collector’s pin from the book!
And for the book featured; it’s A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske!! It’s stunning and it’s my first time seeing a transparent dust jacket and I think it’s such a great idea!
Synopsis if you're interested: Red White & Royal Blue meets Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell in debut author Freya Marske’s A Marvellous Light, featuring an Edwardian England full of magic, contracts, and conspiracies. Robin Blyth has more than enough bother in his life. He’s struggling to be a good older brother, a responsible employer, and the harried baronet of a seat gutted by his late parents’ excesses. When an administrative mistake sees him named the civil service liaison to a hidden magical society, he discovers what’s been operating beneath the unextraordinary reality he’s always known. Now Robin must contend with the beauty and danger of magic, an excruciating deadly curse, and the alarming visions of the future that come with it—not to mention Edwin Courcey, his cold and prickly counterpart in the magical bureaucracy, who clearly wishes Robin were anyone and anywhere else. Robin’s predecessor has disappeared, and the mystery of what happened to him reveals unsettling truths about the very oldest stories they’ve been told about the land they live on and what binds it. Thrown together and facing unexpected dangers, Robin and Edwin discover a plot that threatens every magician in the British Isles—and a secret that more than one person has already died to keep.
I hope you enjoyed this! Let me know in the comments, what your favourite items are! 🥰
