Blogmas Day #2 -The Joy of Christmas Book Tag

Hello lovelies! Welcome to day #2 of Blogmas!

I found this tag from Sam’s Nonsense‘s Youtube Channel and I thought it might be nice to properly kick off this Christmas season with a Christmas- related book tag! Let’s go!

1) Anticipation: The Christmas excitement is real, what book release(s) are you most anticipating? ❆☃

I’m going to dedicate a post to my most anticipated releases soon, but to name a few I’m really excited for A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas, Excuse me While I ugly Cry by Joya Goffney One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston, Act your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert and Gods and Monster by Shelby Mahurin!

2) Christmas Songs & Carols: What book or author can you not help but sing its praises? ❅☃

Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey Mcquiston! Last Christmas I gifted it to my sister (who loved it) and recently gave it to a friend who wanted to get back into reading; cannot recommend this enough!

3) Gingerbread Houses: What book or series has wonderful world building? ❅☃

The Folk of the Air series and the A Court Of Thorns and Roses series have incredible world building! Have you noticed a pattern? I seem to love the Fae and I wish I lived in a world where they were present.

4) A Christmas Carol: Favorite classic or one that you want to read ❅☃

I have a few favourites that are perfect for this season: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott and Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. Perfect cozy holiday reads.

5) Christmas Sweets: What book would you love to receive for Christmas ❅☃

These Violent Delights, From Blood and Ash, Fable more than anything! (Kerstin my sister if you read this….you know what to get me for Christmas haha) -; These are the books I’m going to buy as soon as I get through my current TBR.

6) Candles in the Window: What book gives you that warm fuzzy feeling ❅☃

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, always.

7) Christmas Trees & Decorations: What are some of your favorite book covers? ❅☃

Some of my favourite covers are these:

I really like intricate designs as well as art on my covers!

8) Christmas Joy: What are some of your favorite things about Christmas And/Or some of your favorite Christmas memories? ❅☃

I know it’s weird since I’m dedicating a whole blogging month to Christmas but I’m not a fan of Christmas in itself, but rather, the feeling, the happiness in the air, the songs, the snow, Christmas lights and Christmas markets..It’s not really about Christmas but more what it represents.

What did you think? Let me know in the comments!

TOP 5 TUESDAY – TOP 5 REASONS I RATE A BOOK 5 STARS

Hello Lovelies!

Here’s my weekly Top 5 Tuesday hosted by the wonderful Shannah @Bionic Bookworm Blog (go check out her blog; it’s amazing!). I am extremely excited for this week’s topic! I never really sat down and thought about what makes me give a book 5 star; I always thought that I just “followed my heart” but I actually managed to find 5 reasons why I rate a book 5 stars.

It has the “feels” aka it pulls at my heartstrings

The “feels” is the only good word that I came up with to how convey how much I love when a book pulls at my heartstrings; a book that is going to break my heart one way or another. I don’t really know how to explain that feeling but there are moments and passages that I read that are too deep, too raw that they affect me physically. And the fact that words have such power, keeps on astonishing me. So when that phenomenon occurs I know that it is a 5 stars book right away. It is almost like pinpointing the moment you start falling in love with someone.

My Favourite Book Quotes!

Hello everyone!

I love books, especially if they’re well-written. They are also punctuated by beautiful quotes sometimes so I thought I’d share some of my favourite quotes.

Book-related quotes:

“Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book.”
-John Green, The Fault in Our Stars

“I think it’s bullshit that the only meaningful stories are the ones that are deep and pondering and boring, saying all this nonsense without ever saying anything, and you’re supposed to, like, read meaning into the yellow wallpaper or something.” She rolls her eyes. “You know what I think? I think sometimes the stories we need are the ones about taking the hobbits to Isengard and dog-human dudes with space heelies and trashy King Arthurs and gay ice-skating animes and Zuko redemption arcs and space princesses with found families and galaxies far, far away. We need those stories, too. Stories that tell us that we can be bold and brash and make mistakes and still come out better on the other side. Those are the kinds of stories I want to see, and read, and tell. ‘Look to the stars. Aim. Ignite’—that means something to me, you know?”  – Ashley Poston, The Princess and The Fangirl

“Those who find ugly meanings in beautiful things are corrupt without being charming. This is a fault. Those who find beautiful meanings in beautiful things are the cultivated. For these there is hope. They are the elect to whom beautiful things mean only Beauty. There is no such thing as a moral or an immoral book. Books are well written, or badly written. That is all.”
Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray

Love-related quotes:

“If all else perished, and he remained, I should still continue to be; and if all else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger.” – Emily Brontë, Wuthering Heights

“Many boys will bring you flowers. But someday you’ll meet a boy who will learn your favorite flower, your favorite song, your favorite sweet. And even if he is too poor to give you any of them, it won’t matter because he will have taken the time to know you as no one else does. Only that boy earns your heart.”  – Leigh Bardugo, Six Of Crows

“Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same” – Emily Brontë, Wuthering Heights

“And that’s when I understand that I have been stained. Whether I’m still in love with him, whether he was ever in love with me, and no matter who he’s in love with now, Willem changed my life. He showed me how to get lost, and then I showed myself how to get found.”  – Gayle Forman, Just One Day

“Being vulnerable, letting people in, getting hurt… it’s all part of being in love.”
Jenny Han, Always and Forever, Lara Jean

“Happily ever after, or even just together ever after, is not cheesy,” Wren said. “It’s the noblest, like, the most courageous thing two people can shoot for.”
Rainbow Rowell, Fangirl

Inspirational quotes:

“You have to try. You have to take your chances. Go and attempt and see what happens. And even if you fail – especially if you fail – come back with your experience and your hard-won knowledge and a story you can tell. And then later you can say, without regret or hesitation… ‘Once, I dared to dare greatly”  – Morgan Matson, The Unexpected Everything

Top 5 Tuesday – Books Beginning With A – B – C – D – E

Hello everyone!!

I’m back for a TOP 5 TUESDAY hosted by Shannah @Bionic Bookworm Blog (go check out her blog; it’s amazing!). So this month we’re doing letters instead of topics and I really like the idea so thank you Shannah! Here we goooo.

Letter A –

I feature the  “A Court of Thorns and Roses” series by Srah J. Maas constantly but it’s honestly so good that everyone should read it! It starts as a retelling of Beauty and The Beast but with a Fae twist! The world-building and characters are sooo good!

Letter B-

38746485I’m currently audio-booking Becoming by Michelle Obama and I LOVE IT! It’s so interesting to read her opinion on things and how every memory, detail, feeling means something and has a purpose; she’s an incredible person and a great storyteller!

Letter C-

11235712

Cinder by Marissa Meyer. Who doesn’t like a good retelling of Cinderella?! A Cyborg, a Charming Prince,  a wicked step-mother and a final revelation. This book holds its promise and has elements of the actual fairytale with its personal twist and modern touches. I have yet to read the following books in the series, which are also retellings of fairytales.

Letter D-

13335037.jpgDivergent by Veronica Roth. I adored the first book and when the movie came out I had a mental breakdown because it was so good and I just needed more. The first book was incredible but I did not enjoy the following books as much. Still very entertaining characters and concept.

Letter E-

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon is something else. It’s very unique and beautiful.  It’s about 17-year-old Madeline “Maddy”, a mixed girl with a rare disease which makes her allergic to the world. She has never been out of the house and doesn’t wish to go out until she meets her new neighbour Olly. This book is so sweet and cute. it has been adapted into a film with my all-time crush: Nick Robinson! See my review here.

Do you agree with my picks? If you did the tag feel free to link your post in the comments and I will check it out! Thank you for reading and see you soon!

Top 5 “main males” – Top 5 Tuesday Tag

Hello guys! I’m back for a TOP 5 TUESDAY hosted by Shannah @Bionic Bookworm Blog (go check out her blog, it’s amazing!). Today we’re doing my favourite main male characters. It is quite a hard tag for me because most of the characters I read about are female characters, so most of the characters won’t necessarily be the main character of the book but rather the main male character of the book as in the love interest or the best friend… (which is what this tag is about haha). So here we go! This is not in order of preference.
