My favourite audiobooks 🎧📚

September has been an incredibly busy month for me (the busiest month of the year, if we’re being honest) and audiobooks have been my lifeline when I was commuting to and from classes. I know some people are still hesitant on giving audiobooks a chance, so I thought I would make a short list of some of my favourite audiobooks, that will both appeal to beginners as well as seasoned readers. I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as I do if you give them a chance!

Synopsis: A gripping novel about the whirlwind rise of an iconic 1970s rock group and their beautiful lead singer, revealing the mystery behind their infamous break up.
Everyone knows Daisy Jones & The Six, but nobody knows the real reason why they split at the absolute height of their popularity…until now.
Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go-Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock and roll she loves most. By the time she’s twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things.
Another band getting noticed is The Six, led by the brooding Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she’s pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road.
Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend.

Why I love it: What is "anotherbookworm" post if I don't mention Daisy Jones and the Six at least once? This book converted me to audiobooks and the cast was so spectacular that it made the book part of my top 3 all-time favourite books. It is is told through articles and interviews so the format couldn't be better for an audiobook, not to mention an all- star cast. If you need an extra push, the book is currently being adapted by Reese Witherspoon's production company with Sam Claflin and Riley Keough in the leading roles!

Becoming by Michelle Obama – Review (Very personal and intimate? Review)

Hello everyone!

This was long overdue and it took me longer than I thought but I’m finally putting up my review for Becoming by former First Lady of the United States, Michelle Robinson-Obama. I had to gather all my thoughts and my overpouring of love for this book. This review is a little different than others because this book really hit home for me.

An intimate, powerful, and inspiring memoir by the former First Lady of the United States.

Synopsis: In a life filled with meaning and accomplishment, Michelle Obama has emerged as one of the most iconic and compelling women of our era. As First Lady of the United States of America—the first African American to serve in that role—she helped create the most welcoming and inclusive White House in history, while also establishing herself as a powerful advocate for women and girls in the U.S. and around the world, dramatically changing the ways that families pursue healthier and more active lives, and standing with her husband as he led America through some of its most harrowing moments. Along the way, she showed us a few dance moves, crushed Carpool Karaoke, and raised two down-to-earth daughters under an unforgiving media glare. (Goodreads)

Rating: FIVE SPECTACULAR STARS

Format: audiobook

WWW Wednesday – July 17th

Hello lovelies!

Welcome to WWW Wednesday! I have seen this tag around and thought the prompts were easy enough and a good way of keeping you updated with my former, present and next reads, so I decided to give it a try. This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived on Taking on a World of Words. Enjoy!

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

38746485

This is kind of chaotic because I’m in a reading slump. I’m at a camp right now and I will have a lot of free time during the journey back home and during my stay, so I plan on continuing the audiobook of Becoming, narrated by Michelle Obama herself! I am loving it so far! It’s very inspirational and it’s nice to hear her insights on things and have her version of the events.

What did you recently finish reading?

I finished reading a book for school. It was Tropismes by Nathalie Sarraute. It’s in French and it was very weird and unconventional because there are no longer characters or plots, just thoughts and random actions. I surprisingly enjoyed it.  I also finished reading The Princess and the Fangirl by Ashley Poston which I adored!! It was sooo much fun! (You can see my review for it, here)

What do you think you’ll read next?

Since I have books to read for my next school year, I think I’m going to read all (five) of them, to get it out of the way and enjoy the books of my choice.

  • Robinson Crusoe, Daniel Defoe
  • The Collected Poems of William Wordsworth, William Wordsworth
  • Les Fables, La Fontaine
  • La Maison Tellier et autres contes de campagne, Guy de Maupassant
  • La Nuit Remue, Henri Michaux

If you’re doing the tag, feel free to leave the link in the comments so I can check out your post!

Thanks for stopping by!

Thank you, Next – Book Tag

Hello lovelies!

I’ve seen the Thank You, Next Tag on Jenna’s @ Bookmark Your Thoughts blog. The tag was originally created by thisstoryaintover, and it is inspired by Ariana Grande’s song “thank u, next”. Each of the prompts are inspired by the lyrics. If you haven’t heard the song you can still do the tag! (But the song is very good so you might want to check it out).

Top 5 Tuesday – Books Beginning With A – B – C – D – E

Hello everyone!!

I’m back for a TOP 5 TUESDAY hosted by Shannah @Bionic Bookworm Blog (go check out her blog; it’s amazing!). So this month we’re doing letters instead of topics and I really like the idea so thank you Shannah! Here we goooo.

Letter A –

I feature the  “A Court of Thorns and Roses” series by Srah J. Maas constantly but it’s honestly so good that everyone should read it! It starts as a retelling of Beauty and The Beast but with a Fae twist! The world-building and characters are sooo good!

Letter B-

38746485I’m currently audio-booking Becoming by Michelle Obama and I LOVE IT! It’s so interesting to read her opinion on things and how every memory, detail, feeling means something and has a purpose; she’s an incredible person and a great storyteller!

Letter C-

11235712

Cinder by Marissa Meyer. Who doesn’t like a good retelling of Cinderella?! A Cyborg, a Charming Prince,  a wicked step-mother and a final revelation. This book holds its promise and has elements of the actual fairytale with its personal twist and modern touches. I have yet to read the following books in the series, which are also retellings of fairytales.

Letter D-

13335037.jpgDivergent by Veronica Roth. I adored the first book and when the movie came out I had a mental breakdown because it was so good and I just needed more. The first book was incredible but I did not enjoy the following books as much. Still very entertaining characters and concept.

Letter E-

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon is something else. It’s very unique and beautiful.  It’s about 17-year-old Madeline “Maddy”, a mixed girl with a rare disease which makes her allergic to the world. She has never been out of the house and doesn’t wish to go out until she meets her new neighbour Olly. This book is so sweet and cute. it has been adapted into a film with my all-time crush: Nick Robinson! See my review here.

Do you agree with my picks? If you did the tag feel free to link your post in the comments and I will check it out! Thank you for reading and see you soon!
