I hope that you’re all well. My sweet, dear February is behind us and it was the best month ever. I had a great quiet birthday and I read 8 books which I gave 4 or 5 stars to! So only amazing books! I also have three all-time favourites and read some of my most anticipated releases of the year so it was an overall success! I hope March continues to treat me well and I wish all of you a great (reading) month!
I have managed to read 8 books this month which is great for my reading goal; I’m now 14/70 with three books ahead of schedule. My favourite books were Legendborn, A Court of Silver Flames and Act Your Age, Eve Brown! All of these books made me ugly cry in a good an dbad way and I love them so much!

Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert ★★★★★. This book holds a dear place in my heart for everything it represents in terms of representation. I have never been more drawn to a romance couple; Eve and Jacob, were *clenches fist* SO CUTE. I cried when I received an ARC for this book. I’m so so so happy.
A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J Maas ★★★★★. I had neevr read this before can you believe it? I didn’t have time to reread the whole ACOTAR series so this book was a nice transition into ACOSF and a great way of remembering the dynamic between the Inner Circle.
A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J Maas ★★★★★ This book. This book. This book. Character development? Perfect. Female empowerment? Sublime. Love interest? To die for. I loved this.
Legendbornby Tracy Deonn. ★★★★★ I have never enjoyed reading a book this much in my entire life. Never. This is what dreams are my of. I can die happily, my dreams have been answered.

Finding Yvonne by Brandy Colbert ★★★★★. How refreshing this story was! A coming of age with a Black main character? Yes, please!
Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas ★★★★★. I read a dark! Kylo Ren fanfic once and my life has never been the same. Douglas is known for writing dark romances and I wanted to see what the hype was about. Worth it!

As I said, I had an amazing month! It wasn’t easy everyday and I started school again, but it was my birthday month and Black History month and Valentine’s Day (aka people celebrating romance novels) and I just felt so much love!! My (twin) sister and I both bought nice dresses to wear at home, we ate a delicious cake and we sang 22 by Taylor Swift the whole day! It was perfect. If you’re wondering what the white thing that’s under my dress, it’s a bad that is meant to cover my second degree burn! I tried curling my hair and this happened; I’m the clumsiest person ever. Long time no see. I took went on an accidental hiatus after my birthday but I am back!! I have read so many books these past week (more than usual) and I have been loving all of the books I read! Also I received 12 books for my birthday so I’m going to upload a book haul soon! In the meantime I wanted to catch up on my reading and what better way to do that than with WWW?
I feel like all of the book community is reading this book haha (as they should). As I’m writing this post I am 300 pages in and I AM LOVING IT. I missed all of these characters so much!! I really didn’t like Nesta at first and it was hard forgiving her for what she put her sisters through but I am slowly changing my mind; I can’t wait to see how I stand on this topic by the end of the book.

Okay so I don’t know what happened last weekend but I finished three books in three days and they are all 5 stars reads for me! A great reading weekend indeed. I’m still kind of in a book hangover because of it. I thought it would only be fitting to share my review of this wonderful book even though there are already a thousand ones out there. 5 stars: Persephone – Queen of the Underworld and Goddess of Spring. Persephone is my favourite goddess because she is full of contradictions – she represents both strength as queen of the underworld and a softness as a floral maiden. She teaches me how it’s okay to be both. If Persephone appears, that means that the book was one of the best books I’ve ever read, that it holds a particular place in my heart and that it is now part of my favourite books ever.
Pheme: The goddess of fame, gossip and renown – This goddess will be invoked when a book has received a lot of attention and is praised by critics and the book community. She will be featured whether the book lived up to my expectations or not.
Where does one begin??
I think this book is part of my top 3 all-time favourite books ever. You know how annoying it is when someone asks you what your favorite book is and you can’t answer because there are too many? Well I have found the solution because I would confidently reply with “Crescent City”. This book was a rollercoaster and it was particularly intense because I read it under a short period of time (2 days and a half). I had seen raving reviews about it throughout the year and I knew I would like it but I ended LOVING IT. In the sense that I fell in love and my heart physically hurts from it. Whenever I loo at the book on my shelf I feel like crying. I’m hurting.
This book is a little different from Maas’ other books because it is no longer young adult and we could tell by the writing style! I was surprised at how sexy it was! And the characters curse a lot more and make some questionable life choices but I really liked that. It was believable and a nice change from how the characters in YA behave because of the age difference.
I think that this book is a masterpiece because of the way everything just falls into place and clicks. This book is exactly 800 pages long but somehow every single word counts. It felt like a detective sorry because the author just left so many clues and so many things made sense when everything was revealed and explained. I repeat everything MADE SENSE. I cannot tell you the amount of time I have read books when the big, shocking reveal didn’t make sense. At all. The last two hundred pages were magnificent and I might never recover. My heart still beats quickly when I think about it. There are also so so so many beautiful and inspiring quotes that resonated with me. I all want to cry about them. I think my heart has never dropped so hard than when I read the words “light it up”. I want it to be tattooed on me. Everywhere. (Kidding…unless?)
I loved the focus this book on love. Of any kind. The kind of love for someone that is your mirror but also friendship, how deeply you can connect with someone that is your soulmate and also hiding a secret to protect a sibling. Or sacrificing your life to save a friend, giving up your own peace and chance at eternity to fulfill a promise. Man, I loved every single moment. I loved how pure these types of love were. The author also explores death in a thorough and raw manner and I felt like I myself had lost a loved one. She paints the characters so vividly and profoundly that every single one of them had a voice. Every single one. And there were many! Let it be known that Bryce Quinlan is who I inspire to be. She knows who she is, she knows her wort and she knows that it is not defined by the fact that she likes partying and being sexually active. She’s loving, brave, caring and strong and I can only wish to be as amazing as she is.
The world-building is impeccable. How can someone come up with something like this?? Through the old wars, past and present rebellions and explanations of how the system works, I could see clearly Crescent City. It could have been confusing; it should have been confusing even because there were so many elements and characters thrown at the reader but Maas managed to paint it all perfectly. I loved all the glimpses of history we got and I loved reading about the Drop; it was fascinating. Now I don’t know if this is the history and classic literature major in me speaking but I saw so many references to old Greece and the Roman Empire and I LOVED IT. I think this added something to the story and gave it that “myth” aura. Also can we talk about the fact that there is technology in this?? HECK YES to phones, hacking and video chats. It was so refreshing!!
Basically this is one of the best books ever written in the history of books and I will never recover. I am Sarah J Maas trash. She ruined every other book for me.

Happy Winter solstice everyone! We’re in winter, also known as for my favourite season! I can’t wait to feel the cold wind on my face, wear heavy and comfy coats and snuggle in my bed with a cup of hot cocoa. Fate decided that I would be born in winter so I always felt a closeness to the season.
The winter solstice also means that it is Feyre darling’s birthday! Feyre Archeron is one of my all-time favourite characters. She is resilient, strong, loving and clever. I love the way she cares for her loved ones and how she watches out for them. I love how she puts people first but still takes care of herself. She is wonderful and inspiring because she went through traumatic events and still thrived. She deserves all the love and support and I wish her a very happy birthday. You can see Feyre’s magnificence in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series written by the wonderful Sarah J. Maas. I would like to thank the author for writing characters like Feyre who inspire me. My favourite book of the series is A Court of Mist and Fury where you can see Feyre’s growth and maturity.

I thought that if I posted next week’s TBR here, I would hold myself accountable and feel ashamed that I didn’t fulfill my promises. So this post is basically me trying to force myself to read.
I have been reading Empire of Storms, Finale and Opposition for weeks now and I’m hoping to finally finish them this week! I’m halfway through Empire of Storms and I love the book so far but I haven’t been able to pick up a physical books for a while now. I hope I’ll manage to do that next week! I’m reading the audiobook of Finale and I have 4h7mn left! My reading pace is 1.8x though, so I might finish it sooner than that. Can’t wait to see how everything ends.I’m 70% done with Opposition and I might finish reading it tonight or tomorrow morning so I’m quite hopeful. I was a little disappointed with the beginning of the story but I’m really enjoying the latter part of the story.
When (if) I manage to pick up a physical book, I would love to start reading The Poppy War!
I want to read Faking Under the Mistletoe before Christmas to put me in the Christmas mood. I have been watching Christmas movies (I watched Love Actually again today!) and I realized that I like Christmas related stuff. Better late than never?

I have so many series I need to finish especially since I have the luxury of not waiting for them to be published! So I’m hoping to finish Allemagne of these books as soon as I can! There is also something about bingereading a series and the satisfaction that ensues…It also allows me to remember characters and previous events rather than confusingly staring at the page and wondering “wait, who is this?.
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
The first book was so different from what I expected but I liked how it took its time to introduce the characters and the whole plot. This makes me excited to see how the whole group dynamic will evolve.
Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
I am so hopeful I will finish this by the end of the year but I still have Tower of Dawn and Kingdom of Ash and these books are beasts.
Caraval series by Stephanie Garber
Currently reading Finale via audiobook so I might finish this in 2020! Fingers crossed!!

I have read Illuminae at least three years ago and loved it but I was extremely disappointed by Gemina so I don’t know if I should reread the first two books or just read Obsidio and get it over with. Dilemma, dilemma.

Finale (Caraval #3) – Stephanie Garber. I am halfway through the audiobook and I am really enjoying it so far!! I daresay it’s my favourite of the series. Also the author announced another book featuring one of the characters and I’m going to look into that after I’m done reading to avoid spoilers.
Empire of Storms – Sarah J. Maas. Really hoping i get to finish this this week so I can finally move to the end of the series! I’m loving this book and everything that happens, I’ve just been very busy so picking up my e-reader was easier than this 600+ pages book.
Opposition (Lux #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I picked it up again today! I was kind of bored reading this but I found my mojo back and I can’t wait to finish this series after so many years.

Why I want to read it: you had me at “The Princess Diaries”!! I love the hidden princess trope and also the Japanese rep!! Very excited about this.

Why I want to read it: this seems like such a cute romance and I love the fact that the main character is a person of colour! It also reminds me of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and since I really enjoyed the series I can’t wait to read this.

Why I want to read it: I think this is a retelling of Snow White and there’s nothing I love more than fairtytale retellings. Also this has Asian rep and a beautiful cover! What more could I need?

Why I want to read it: WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS BOOK SINCE FOREVER. I’m not really a fan of Nesta but I care about Cassian and I really just want to see all of my babies together again.

Why I want to read it: I have been fortunate enough to receive ARCS for the first and second book in the series and I adored it. It’s initially a retelling of Tristan and Isolde (classic star-crossed lovers) but then it evolves into its own story. I love this series for the phenomenal world building . Can’t wait for book 3! Why I want to read it: The Brown sisters series is one of the best romance series I’ve read this year and I’m very existed about Eve Brown’s story. And the autism rep!!! Both of the main character are so chaotic and that’s how I like my characters.

Untitled (legacy of Orïsha #3) by Tomi Adeyemi
This is a very unpopular opinion but book two was extremely disappointing. I really want to see how book 3 wraps up the story and if it redeems some of my favourite characters. I hope I get the joy I felt when I read the first book.
Gods and Monsters (Serpent and Dove #3) by Shelby Mahurin
Serpent and Dove is one of my favourite book and Blood and Honey was my most anticipated book of the year but I read so many bad reviews that I’m scared to pick it up. I will read it eventually though because I love the characters and I also want to see how it all ends.
Untitled (Crescent City #2) by Sarah J. Maas
I haven’t read House of Earth and Blood yet but I trust Sarah J, Maas with my life so I’m sure both the first and second book in the series are going to be amazing.

This is the last wrap-up of the year since the one for December will be up by the beginning of January, so in the new year. I always feel nostalgic at the end of the year; I hate endings. But anyway, I had a great month.
My universities physically closed but I still have online classes which are taking up too much, a lot of my time and I haven’t been able to read as much as I would have liked. Thankfully I’m going to be on holiday December, 18th which gives me plenty of time to tackle the books I want to read before 2021 (see my post about that here!). So this month I only read two books but one of them is now one of my all-time favourites so it’s fine.

Carmilla by J. Sheridan Le Fanu. I’m part of an LGBTQ book club and we chose to read the novella Carmilla which is one of the first vampire stories. It has a sapphic twist (scandalous at the time!) and it actually inspired Bram Stocker’s Dracula; not bad huh?
Currently reading:
Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas. Definitely one of my favourites from the series. It has a strong start and I am obsessed with the group dynamic. Loving every page.
Finale (Caraval #3) by Stephanie Garber. I love this series; I didn’t expect to enjoy it this much since I read a lot of mixed reviews but it has been great so far! Can’t wait to see how it all ends.
Opposition (Lux #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I adored book 3 and 4 but I’m not enjoyng this one as much; it seems a little chaotic right now but I’m nearly halfway through and there is plenty of time for the story to evolve (hopefully).
This month has been kinder than others. First, I have officially signed a lease for a new apartment in Paris (can’t wait to go back there once everything settles down) and what a relief it was. I waited two months for it and I nearly cried. I used to live in a squalid apartment rented by someone I used to trust and as I said it was stressful. Since everything closed I also went back home and it was nice to be able to spend time with my family and relax. Overall a great month.
This was….THE BEST THING EVER. Okay, I’m being a little dramatic but I was so hooked that I watched the entire season in one sitting; (there are only 9 episodes of 35 mins each). The plot was incredibly well thought and well carried out. Kenny Ortega aka the director of both High School Musical and Descendants directed most of the episodes. The songs are so incredible that I wish the band existed in real life. I added all of them on Spotify as soon as I finished watching the show. The actors are all incredibly talented and the chemistry between the characters was to die for. So so so good.
This month I didn’t read much so I saw more movies than usual which was nice. I rewatched some old favourites such as Tangled and 10 Things I hate about you. Those are in my top 5 favourites; I love these movies to death. I also rewatched Avalon High since I’m a sucker for retellings: this is a retelling of the King Arthur myth with a feminist twist. It’s not the best movie ever but it does the trick. I also watched Titanic and I love it more than ever. I feel like it even gets better with time? This movie is a true masterpiece.
I (finally!!) watched A Cinderella Story and as I said earlier I love retellings and nothing beats Cinderella retellings. It was pretty great. I also enjoyed watching A Christmas prince which is officially my first Christmas movie of the year. I really enjoyed it and it was actually better than I expected.

I am very happy to report that I reached my Goodreads challenge of reading 50 books this year! I’m so proud of myself! Last year I managed to read 45 books and right now I read 6 more books than last year. Of course lockdown and quarantine are reasons why I read more; but I also joined book twitter and took my bookstagram more seriously so I discovered so many great books and people who pushed me to read more. Overall I have had a great reading year so far. Since I don’t have the pressure of reaching my Goodreads goal, I’m free to read how many books I like!
I have so many books I want to read but realistically, with my slow reading pace and my busy school schedule, I don’t think I’ll manage to read all of my “end of the year hopefuls” but we’ll see. Here’s my list:
Finish the Throne of Glass series and start Crescent City
I’m currently reading Empire of Storms and I AM LOVING IT. And I really want to finish the series this year but the books are all quite big (600- 800 pages) and I don’t think I’ll have enough time to read everything before 2021. But let’s be hopeful!
The Poppy War – R.F Kuang
I have seen this book everywhere so I gave into tentation and I bought it last month. Since I didn’t read as much as I had hoped, I haven’t gotten around to this. I’m hoping to read this one before the year ends!

I had the brilliant idea of requesting books on Netgalley, when I already have so many books on my physical TBR but I just couldn’t resist. Afterlove is a sapphic book about Ash who is about to become a reaper in the afterlife but who is determined to see her first love Poppy Morgan again. Dearest Josephine is a book about a girl who discovers old love letters written by an elusive novelist two centuries before and it seems like she is the heroine….So excited to read these!
Opposition (Lux series #5)
This is the last book in this series! I started it years ago and I finally managed to reach book 5! This is one of my favourite series and I really want to see how it all ends!
Finale (Caraval #3) by Stephanie Garber
I have read the two previous books as audiobooks so I purchased the third one also as an audiobook! The narrator is fantastic and I can’t wait to see how everything all ends.
Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo
The raving reviews were enough for me to instantly buy this book. This book follows the life of 12 Black and British women through their hardships and victories. I really want to read this before the year ends.
