Blogmas Day #13 – Book love – How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories by Holly Black and illustrated by Rovina Cai

Hello lovelies! Welcome to day 13 of blogmas (and happy birthday to Taylor Swift!)

I wanted to share some book mail and book love because this is my first time buying an exclusive edition and this book is too beautiful not to share.

I was on a book buying ban (still am) when I decided to splurge a little and buy this Waterstones exclusive edition of How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories by Holly Black when it was released on November 24th. I received it two days ago. The shipping was delayed due to Covid and the mess that is French customs; I had to call the airport, the Royal Mail and the French post service to track it down but luckily it came soon enough.

This is a small cute Cardan novella which can be read under an hour but I love these characters so much that I’m dragging this a much as I can. The illustrations are to die for – Rovina Cai is incredibly talented and I like the exclusive section of the book where we get to see her drawing process. It really feels like reading an old fairytale book and I just love this with all my heart. Enough chitchat and here are some pictures of this beautiful edition.

The dust jacket is soo cute; we can see Jude with a sword, Cardan reading a book as well as and characters from the different tales.

The naked cover is just as beautiful as the dust jacket.

The spine?? Is this post just me thirsting over this beautiful edition? Yes, yes it is.

I love the gold and black colours of these editions because they go perfectly together; I am in awe to the attention to details and the quality of the drawings.

This might be my favourite page ever; One of my favourite characters ever reading?? Thank you lord.

What do you think of this edition? Let me know in the comments! xx

Blogmas Day #2 -The Joy of Christmas Book Tag

Hello lovelies! Welcome to day #2 of Blogmas!

I found this tag from Sam’s Nonsense‘s Youtube Channel and I thought it might be nice to properly kick off this Christmas season with a Christmas- related book tag! Let’s go!

1) Anticipation: The Christmas excitement is real, what book release(s) are you most anticipating? ā†ā˜ƒ

I’m going to dedicate a post to my most anticipated releases soon, but to name a few I’m really excited for A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas, Excuse me While I ugly Cry by Joya Goffney One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston, Act your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert and Gods and Monster by Shelby Mahurin!

2) Christmas Songs & Carols: What book or author can you not help but sing its praises? ā…ā˜ƒ

Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey Mcquiston! Last Christmas I gifted it to my sister (who loved it) and recently gave it to a friend who wanted to get back into reading; cannot recommend this enough!

3) Gingerbread Houses: What book or series has wonderful world building? ā…ā˜ƒ

The Folk of the Air series and the A Court Of Thorns and Roses series have incredible world building! Have you noticed a pattern? I seem to love the Fae and I wish I lived in a world where they were present.

4) A Christmas Carol: Favorite classic or one that you want to read ā…ā˜ƒ

I have a few favourites that are perfect for this season: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott and Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontƫ. Perfect cozy holiday reads.

5) Christmas Sweets: What book would you love to receive for Christmas ā…ā˜ƒ

These Violent Delights, From Blood and Ash, Fable more than anything! (Kerstin my sister if you read this….you know what to get me for Christmas haha) -; These are the books I’m going to buy as soon as I get through my current TBR.

6) Candles in the Window: What book gives you that warm fuzzy feeling ā…ā˜ƒ

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, always.

7) Christmas Trees & Decorations: What are some of your favorite book covers? ā…ā˜ƒ

Some of my favourite covers are these:

I really like intricate designs as well as art on my covers!

8) Christmas Joy: What are some of your favorite things about Christmas And/Or some of your favorite Christmas memories? ā…ā˜ƒ

I know it’s weird since I’m dedicating a whole blogging month to Christmas but I’m not a fan of Christmas in itself, but rather, the feeling, the happiness in the air, the songs, the snow, Christmas lights and Christmas markets..It’s not really about Christmas but more what it represents.

What did you think? Let me know in the comments!

Top 5 Tuesday – Top 5 characters I would dress up as!

Hello lovelies!

Here’s my weekly Top 5 Tuesday created by the wonderful Shannah @Bionic BookwormĀ Blog and hosted by Meeghan @Meeghan ReadsĀ (go check out their blogs; they’re amazing!). I am extremely excited for this week’s topic;Ā I love fashion and I love books so this is basically a match made in heaven!

Nehemia Ytger from Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Look at the art; need I say more? I loved the description of her hairstyle in the books and I mean, she is a queen. I would love to have a queen’s wardrobe. They could made custom pieces for me.

Jude Duarte from The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

Art by wictorianart

Let’s be clear here: I want to be Jude. Any reason to channel her is a good enough reason for me. I love the beautiful gowns she gets to wear and her hair styled in horns is iconic.

Lola Nolan from Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

Lola is a costume designer! Of course I would want to dress up as her! Her style is eccentric, daring and colorful; which is not how I usually dress but I would still enjoy dressing up as her. I really like clothes from other eras and Lola mixes them into her own style and i just like how confident she is.

Lara Jean Covey Song from To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

Edit by Gorly Gorl on Picsart

Lara Jean as the cutest style ever. She’s very preppy and put together and I like all the dresses and pastel colors she wears. I would love to dress up as her! I think the movie did her justice and Lana Condor really made the style work.

Daisy Jones from Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

art by @ritwells (twitter)

Daisy wears men’s button down shirts as dresses, huge and gold bracelets and earrings and is often barefoot. I like how effortless and “cool” her style is. She exudes confidence and dressing up as her would help me channel that. Fake it until you make it right?

Who would you like to dress up as?

Thank you, Next – Book Tag

Hello lovelies!

I’ve seen the Thank You, Next Tag on Jenna’s @ Bookmark Your Thoughts blog. The tag was originally created by thisstoryaintover, and it is inspired by Ariana Grande’s song ā€œthank u, nextā€. Each of the prompts areĀ inspired by the lyrics. If you haven’t heard the song you can still do the tag! (But the song is very good so you might want to check it out).
