Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe – Comic Review

Hello lovelies!

Today I’m going to talk about something a little different because I’ll be reviewing a webcomic; which is a change for me!

Drawing found on Webtoons and belongs to Rachel Smythe

Lore Olympus deals with The Greek Myth of The Taking of Persephone as narrated by Homer and Hesiode; it also happens to be my favorite myth ever. There’s something so unique and intriguing about it.

Rachel Smythe’s touch is that it has a modern twist! Zeus, Hades and Poseidon are Gods/CEOs, the characters go on Fatesbook (get it?) and Persephone is a college student! I love how timeless Greek mythology is and how flawlessly Smythe shows how it can be adapted into our modern world.

I was hooked from the very first episode. Persephone is endearing, kind and lovely. Hades is so sweet and deals with PTSD. I really feel for the character, he has been through so much! He must be protected at all costs. I love the instant chemistry between the two and how well they compliment each other; especially with the colours. The other characters are also funny and it’s so nice seeing elements from the original myths added in the story.

I can’t wait to see how it will evolve in the future! There is a free new episode every Sunday on WebToon; you can read the story here.

Have you read this comic? What is your favorite myth? Let me know in the comments! 🙂
